“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;”
1 Corinthians 6:19 NIV
As I talked about last month about the Holidays Triggers, it’s even worse I think when your life is shattered at the holidays! It will be in your memories for a long time! But through the bad memories and the depression God always finds a way back in. This time he used that thing called a New Years Resolution. I don’t really like to make them especially around my weight but in 2015 it sort of happened! 😀
In December 2014, right around the time when my husband told me he made his decision to move out, on one of my good days, I looked into the mirror and realized I was so fat and extremely over weight for me, for Key! I hadn’t even really realized how much I gained over the 20 plus years in my marriage. I knew I was bigger and I complained often but that day it was surreal! I said to myself in the mirror that day ‘Key you can’t be single, forty and fat! But what are you going to do about it?’
So it was the beginning of the year, January 2015, the time that we make New Years resolutions and barely keep them. Lol. But I felt like this was not a resolution it was a New Year New Me moment! It was a life change! I wanted so bad to loose the weight be Forty, Fit, Fine and Foxy!
I had been playing around at Foxy Fitness Studio and Pole, www.AFoxierYou.com my friend Temika’s gym, that I had joined several years earlier. I would go at first just to do pole but couldn’t stand the site of my fat reflection in the mirror. I had done a couple of the fit camps that they offered years before and had a little success but didn’t keep the weight off after we finished the process. I was pushing 200 pounds and a size 18 back then. So I knew that it worked but this time I wanted to loose all that baby and marriage weight and keep it off forever!
But in January 2015, it was so real! I knew that I had to make a lifestyle change. My girl, Temika, the owner of Foxy Fitness Fitness and Pole Studio, knew what I was going through and encouraged me to join fit camp again with her in January. I signed up and lost 10lbs 15.25 inches in the first month. I continued and joined the February fit camp also. I lost another 10lbs and 8.75 inches. I continued to train vigorously with Temika at Foxy. In addition, she taught me how to eat cleaner and keep the weight off. By May 2016 I was down to 135 lbs and down to a size 0 in clothes. That was 5 lbs heavier than what I weighed my freshman year of college, before the children!
135 was a little too small so we built muscle and now I am maintaining about 144-148. We’ll most of the time! I’m a little heavier than that right now. I am actually much heavier than usual due to the holidays and me eating and drink king whatever I would like and I have a lot of happy weight too! I know what to do to get back to me plus summer bodies are made in the winter!
I love Women’s Heath and talking about working out. As women, it is so easy for us to gain, compared to them—- those men, 😂, but so hard to loose! It is definitely a mind over matter subject that once you make that mind shift YOU will make it happen!
I found something I loved and I ran hard towards it. Even though I still had plenty of really rough days I discovered that working out really helped my mental state!
You hear people talking about releasing endorphins, well it is so real! To this day when I’m having a rough day or really tired I go to the gym and it really helps me out! It gives me so much life! I feel like I can conquer the world!

Besides once you are in the body that YOU WANT and not the one that you fell into or inherited due to children, marriage, stress, lack of time, etc. You will be the New You that you always wanted! That could mean more confidence, more energy, feeling sexier which will transfer over to your marriage, feeling better and looking better in your clothes. What ever you want or imagine!
Key had to have her husband leave her. She also had to be worried about being single and finding her true love in that body that she didn’t like. She wanted to make sure that she looked the way she wanted. That she didn’t want to look like an old forty year old! But a fine, fit, Foxy and fabulous forty year old! She wanted to be able to pick from several men than settle for that one. She also learned that it was more than about the next man but about her health! She wanted to be around a long time and healthy! She wanted to be able to be lively when she had her own grandchildren. She wanted to be able to run and workout. She wanted to be able to live a long and fabulous life! She has dedicatedly started on that journey too!
Hit me up if you are ready for a New Year New You!
With Love,
